The Unexpected Journey of Goodin's Goodies

In 2020, when the world was gripped by uncertainty, my father, like many, feared the worst. Convinced that the end was near, he purchased a freeze dryer and stocked up on food, ready to face whatever came our way. But as the months passed, the world didn't end. Life went on, and the freeze dryer, once a symbol of survival, was forgotten, collecting dust in the corner.

Around that time, I welcomed Kona into my life, a beautiful Siberian Husky with a spirit as wild as her lineage. But Kona was different—she was born with epilepsy, a condition that made her life, and mine, a bit more complicated. She was the pickiest eater I had ever encountered, and finding something she would actually eat felt like an impossible task. That's when the freeze dryer came back into the picture.

On a whim, I decided to use it to make dog treats, hoping that maybe, just maybe, Kona would like them. And to my amazement, she did. For the first time, she ate with enthusiasm, and I felt a deep sense of relief and joy. What started as a simple solution for my dog's picky eating turned into a passion. I began experimenting more with the freeze dryer, researching and learning the ropes of creating food that was not just for my dog but for others as well.

I decided to start with candy. I made batch after batch, refining my recipes and techniques, and before I knew it, I had more candy than I knew what to do with. That's when I decided to open an Etsy shop, just to see if there was any interest. The response was overwhelming and within two months... Goodin's Goodies had legs! It was a moment of realization for me, that this wasn't just a hobby anymore; it was something much bigger. I officially became a commercial kitchen in April, and now, my candy is even stocked in gas stations.

Though I've expanded into the world of candy, I haven't forgotten where it all began—with Kona. I still make freeze-dried dog treats and fruits. While our dog treats aren't available online, you can fetch them at local markets!

Looking back, it's incredible to think that what started with my father's doomsday prepping and a picky husky has grown into a thriving business. It's a reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected beginnings can lead to the most rewarding journeys.
